Pictures on money notes and coins

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Since islam forbids having images in one’s house, does that include things like images on money, KFC logo, or other brands with animals or humans on them?

Bismillaah

A: The pictures found on money notes or coins are unavoidable. One is unable to remove those pictures from the coins and notes. However one should keep these money notes and coins covered so that one is not deprived of the company of the Malaaikah (e.g. in one’s wallet, purse, cupboard, etc.) If the picture on any item is clearly noticeable, then one should exercise caution and destroy the picture or scratch it out.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
