Using products with halaal labels

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Nowadays there is much issue with regards to halaal and haraam in Pakistan as well as in food and other products like shampoos and creams. If halaal is written on some product, can we have it? How can we confirm whether a product is really halaal or not? Is KFC and McDonalds halaal?

Bismillaah

A: The procedure of making something halaal is not just by writing halaal. Rather it is to see that what the product has been made with, is that halaal. Hence, the halaal authorities should be referred to as to whether they know of the procedures these products have gone through and whether they are in conformity to the shari`ah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
