Q: Applying surma for the deceased, is it permissible?

Bismillaah

A: Applying surma for the deceased is a practice which has no basis in the Sunnah. Hence, surma should not be applied for the deceased.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

( ولا يسرح شعره ) أي يكره تحريما (الدر المختار 2/ 197)

قال الشامي : قوله ( أي يكره تحريما ) لما في القنية من أن التنزيين بعد موتها والامتشاط وقطع الشعر لا يجوز (رد المحتار 2/ 197)
