The flower of Maryam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I like to enquire about the flower of Maryam. Firstly is there such a flower? Secondly, many Muslim sisters seem to put this in water at the time of giving birth? Is this allowed? And lastly women drink this water after the flower has been submerged. I like to enquire is this part of Islam?

Bismillaah

A: If it has some medicinal benefits, it will be permissible to use it, however one should not regard it as a Sunnah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
