Wife telling the husband “I want a divorce” and husband replying with “Okay”

Q: The wife said I want a divorce and the husband said okay.

Bismillaah

A: When the husband said okay. If he intended talaaq then one revocable talaaq has taken place. However, if he said okay intending that I will give you the talaaq you want later on then no talaaq has taken place. Therefore the husband should be asked regarding what was his intention at the time when he said okay.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
