Yoga for Pain Relief: My Experience and the Question of Halal Exercise

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: For some years I suffer from physical pains. Recently I discovered a form of yoga to practise and my pains reduced a lot. I think that the yoga lessons in Holland are not directly connected with the original and Buddhist yoga, but one of the 10 teachers ends yoga with saying 3 times ohm. I said Audu bilahi mina shaytani ragim, to encounter this. But after this lesson I start to ask myself. Is this kind of exercise halaal. Knowing that this was the first time in 3 years that I felt some ease of pain?

Bismillaah
