Following the Imaam via the cellphone

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I live in a non-muslim country so every time I go to mosque for prayer, I call my brother on his cell phone so he can listen to the Qiraat of the Imaam and pray behind him (He lives in a different city where there is no mosque nearby). Is it allowed to pray like this?

Bismillaah

A: It is a precondition for the iqtidaa (following) to be correct that one follow the Imaam in the place where jamaat is taking place. Hence following the Imaam via the cellphone from another place other than the place where the jamaat is taking place is not correct and the Salaah will not be valid.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
