Hair transplant

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: You had answered my question that hair transplant is not permissible in Islam which made me so confused because I am under the impression that hair transplant is using a person’s own hair to transplant in the bold area, so how can this be not allowed? I understand that hair wig is not allowed but hair transplant is medical treatment to inject a person’s “own hairs”. Please clarify.

Bismillaah

A: This ruling has been issued by the Fuqaha. In matters of Deen we are commanded to follow the Fuqaha. The Fuqaha are those experts in Deen who after carrying out an extensive and comprehensive study of the Quraan, the Mubarak Ahaadith of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and the verdicts of the Sahaabah (with all the related sciences that are required to understand Deen), deduce the masaail of Deen and explain to the Ummah the parameters of Shariah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
