Reconciling between apparently contradictory narrations

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I want to know how Muslim scholars deal with contradictory Ahaadith found in Sahih Bukhaari?

Bismillaah

A: For one to gain proficiency and mastery over any worldly science (whether relating to medicine, dentistry, law, accounting or any other profession), one is required to adopt the correct procedures that have been prepared by the experts of that science. Similarly is the case of Deeni knowledge. If one wishes to learn the method of reconciling between apparently contradictory narrations, one is required to study the various sciences of Deen under the tutorship and guidance of those who have specialized in the various sciences of Deen.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
