Inheriting with Siblings: Navigating Estate Division

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: At the moment I am married and both my parents are alive. I have 4 sisters. How will the estate be divided?

Bismillaah

A: If at the time of your death, these are the surviving heirs, then your estate will be divided into 12 equal shares and distributed as follows:

Father will receive 7 shares

Mother will receive 2 shares

Wife will receive 3 shares

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
