Unpaid Mahr: Can a Divorced Woman Still Claim It?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a girl got married and her mahr was not given to her at that time, now she is divorced. Can she still ask for it?

Bismillaah

A: Yes. Mahr is the right of the wife. Hence she has the right to claim it.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
