The Virtue of Shaving One’s Head: Beyond Umrah and Hajj

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: There is much virtue for shaving one’s head when on Umrah or Hajj. What is the virtue for shaving one’s head when not performing Umrah or Hajj. i.e. did Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) shave his head when not performing Umrah or Hajj?

Bismillaah

A:

1. Apart from shaving one’s head in hajj and umrah, there is no virtue mentioned in the Hadith for shaving one’s head at other times.

2. No, apart from hajj and umrah, it is not established in the Hadith that Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) shaved his head at other times.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
