Multiple Talaaqs and Reconciliation in Islam: What Does it Mean for Our Marriage?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My husband gave me one talaaq and reconciled immediately. Then after five months he gave one talaak and reconciled again on that day. Then after six months he gave one talaak and again reconciled on the same day, now please guide me what is the teaching of Islam in this aspect. Are we still married?

Bismillaah

A: At the time your husband issued the third talaaq, the nikaah had terminated. After three talaaqs are issued, it is not possible for the husband to revoke the talaaq and take the wife back into his nikaah. Hence, it is no longer permissible for you both to continue living together.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
