Eating lobsters, crayfish and crab

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Why are sea creatures such as lobsters, crayfish and crab not permissible according to Hanafis? Please support answer with proofs from Quraan and Hadith.

Bismillaah

A: According to the Hanafi Mazhab, from the sea creatures all that which comes under the category of fish is consumable. For the proofs regarding this mas’alah refer to I’laaus Sunan Vol. 17 Pg. 187.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
