Muslim woman marrying a non-Muslim man

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by

Q: My question is that I am a Muslim but married to a Christian guy. We have four kids together and for six years I have been living like a Christian but my heart was not wholeheartedly there. My heart was always to be a Muslim and my children too were not happy. I returned back to being Muslim though but don’t no what to do. Can you help.

A: In Islam it is not permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a non-muslim whether he be a Christian, Jew or a follower of any other religion. If she marries a non-muslim, the nikaah will not be valid and they will perpetually be living in zina. You should renew you Imaan and sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala for your past life and make a firm resolve that you will not repeat this sin in the future.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
