Aqeeqah and cutting the hair of a newborn child

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What is the rulling of aqeeqah? Doctor says not to trim the hair before one month.

Bismillaah

A: If one has the means to carry out the aqeeqah, then it is mustahab for one to carry out the aqeeqah on the seventh day of childbirth. The hair of child will also be removed on the seventh day. However for medical reasons cutting the hair can be delayed till after one month.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
