Unhappy to get married to the person chosen by one’s parents

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I’m getting married this month 26th August. I only agreed because my parents were happy. He is from Pakistan but I don’t feel anything for him. I don’t like him or even love him. I am in love with someone else who is Muslim. How can I stop this from happening. My parents will not listen to me at all. Please help me.

Bismillaah

A: Explain to your parents that you do not wish to get married to the person they have chosen for you and that you wish to get married to somebody else. If it is difficult for you to explain to your parents, then we suggest that you speak to a senior family member and ask them to explain to your parents your situation.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
