Question:

My question is that is it necessary to wash hands with soap after urinating or after passing stool? What does Islam tell us in this regard? What are the basic procedures to follow after urinating regarding washing of that urine In Islam? Kindly help and guide me.

Answer:

In the Name of Allāh, Most Merciful, Most Kind

Jazāk Allāh Khayr/ Thank you for your question.

After relieving oneself from urine or stool, it is only obligatory to wash hands and body parts if residue of the impurities are found on them. If not, then it is not mandatory to wash them. One’s hands only become impure if one touches impurities.
Washing is achieved by water and rubbing the hands or the area of the body while washing. Using soap is an additional emphasis in obtaining absolute cleanliness which is praiseworthy but not a requirement.

And Allāh Knows Best
