The Meaning of the Name ‘Aarib’

Question:

I’ve just become a father Masha Allah of a baby boy and after going through a lot of resources for finding out good Muslim names, I named my baby “Aarib”. A lot of the resources say it’s a Muslim name meaning “handsome/ healthy”. I really liked the meaning of it too. I’m a bit curious to find out what the origin of this name is. Is it from the Qur’an and if yes then from where? Also, is it Arabic? Any information will do me good. Thanks in advance.

Answer:

Congratulations on the new member of your family. May he be blessed with a healthy future in the protection of the Almighty.

Aarib in the Arabic language is an active participle noun from the verb ‘A-Re Ba’ which means ‘to be skillful, to be proficient.’

This word is not found in the Qur’an.
