Who are Salafis?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

Who are Salafi, are they one of the four Madhabs? 2. Is Iblis an angel, jinn, or Dajjal, or all? 3. Was it prophet Isa (pbuh) or Muhammamad (pbuh) that spoke as a baby in the cradle? 4. Is it true about a king that wanted to kill prophet Isa (pbuh) as he was a baby because the king thought Isa

(pbuh) was a king, or just a Christian belief?

Answer:

1.   Generally, the Ulamaa of Saudi Arabia call themselves Salafis. Their governments as well as the population belong to the Hanbali school of thought. Sheikh Abdul Wahhaab Najdi was also a Hanbali. We have no further information in this regard.

2.      In   Surah Kahaf, verse 50, Allah explicitly declares Shaitaan as being from amongst the Jinn.

3.      Hazrat Isaa (A.S) spoke while he was in his cradle. This was a miracle bestowed by Allah to establish the innocence of his mother.    The Qur’an makes mention of this in Surah Aale Imraan, verse 46, Surah Ma’edah, verse 110 and Surah Mariam, verse 28-29. From some narrations it is proven that Nabi (S.A.W) also spoke while he was in a cradle. This has being reported from the book of Waaqidi on Seerah. (Saheeh Bukhari, Vol. 1, Pg 489, footnote)

4.      We have not come across any information with regards to the incident mentioned in your question.
