The Powers of Allah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

Assalamualaikum ..

One of my friend asked me that in Qur’an Allah says that He can do any thing whatever He wants by saying “KUN”. If it is true then can He make a lord greater than Him and if so, then how is He the greatest as He can make a greater lord and if not then His sayings are wrong (Na’oo-zu-billah). Can you clarify me?.

This question is baseless. Ask yourself, will any sane intelligent person act in a manner which could lead to his destruction? Is there anyone who will even think of rendering his own powers void?

The following example will make it easier for one to understand:

There is a powerful person who always overpowers his opposition and people always applaud his success. Now, if this person allows himself to be defeated, will there be anyone to praise him on his defeat? It is obvious that he will lose his support and his victories will become unheard of.

If a king destroys his own kingdom, what position will he hold amongst his people? His entire kingdom will be in turmoil. Was a question of this sought ever posed to a king or ruler?

Ask your friend that since he has the ability of punching another 100 times, why doesn’t he do so to himself in order to expose his power?

Whenever he poses this question to you, answer him in this manner.

Shaitaan spurs one to ask such questions; therefore one should seek protection from Shaitaan whenever one is faced with such questions.

Tell your friend that he should associate himself with the Ulamaa and pious saints of his locality. If he is residing in Pakistan then he should stay in the company of Mufti Taqi Uthmani, Mufti Abdur Ra’oof or Hakim Akhtar Saheb.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best
