Question:
Answer:
- Nabi Kareem S.A.W. has mentioned that: “The picture makers deserve the severest punishment in the sight of Allah.” (Mishkaat Page 385.)
It is not permissible to manufacture clothing containing animate objects as one would be creating pictures. (Fataawaa Mahmoodiyah Vol. 5 Page 146. Imdaadul Ahkaam Vol.4 Page 372-373.)
- Hazrat Mufti Mahmoodul Hasan Saheb has mentioned in his illustrious book, Fataawaa Mahmoodiyah that: “It is permissible to purchase a newspaper which has pictures if the purpose of purchasing it is to read the contents therein, however it will not be permissible to buy it for the pictures which it contains.“
Similarly, it will be permissible for one to trade in such clothing since the pictures are not the motive of buying the clothes; rather it is the fabric which is bought for resale purposes.
If one purchases such clothing to clothe oneself then he | she should have the pictures removed.
(Fataawaa Mahmoodiyah Vol. 5 Page 107-108)
- It is not permissible to clothe children in garments containing animate pictures. The pictures should therefore be removed.
- It will be permissible to buy and sell these items since this is unavoidable and the pictures on the packaging is not the purpose of purchasing it as mentioned above in answer no.2.
