Zakat on land for development

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by IslamicPortal.co.uk

Is Zakat necessary on a land which I have purchased in the UK with the intention of developing the land via building offices and selling them thereafter?

Answer

Zakat is necessary on land that is bought with the intention of resale, and this includes intention of sale after development.
