Is it permissible for a woman in menstruation to sit in the courtyard of al-Masjid al-Ḥarām and al-Masjid al-Nabawī without entering the building of the Masjids?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

Answer

It is permissible for a woman in menses to sit in the courtyard of al-Masjid al-Nabawī and al-Masjid al-Ḥarām because it is not part of the Masjid.

قال ابن نجيم في البحر (١/٢٠٥): أما في جواز دخول الحائض فليس للفناء حكم المسجد فيه، انتهى. وقال الحصكفي في الدر (١/٦٥٧): (فحل دخوله لجنب وحائض) كفناء مسجد ورباط ومدرسة ومساجد حياض وأسواق لا قوارع، انتهى۔
