Answer

(1) The following is a masnūn supplication when it rains:

“O Allah, [may it be] beneficial fruitful [rain]” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, 1032).

(2) The following is a masnūn supplication when it rains heavily:

“O Allah, [send rain] around us and not on us. O Allah, on the plateaus, on the hillock, in the valleys and on the places where trees grow” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, 1014).

(3) The following is a masnūn supplication when there is strong wind:

“O Allah, I ask You for its goodness, the good within it, and the good it was sent with, and I seek refuge with You from its evil, the evil within it, and from the evil it was sent with (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, 899).

(4) The following is a masnūn supplication when there is lightning and thunder:

“O Allah, do not kill us with Your anger and do not destroy us with Your punishment, but protect us before that happens.” (Ṣunan al-Tirmidhī, 3450; Musnad Aḥmad, 5763; al-Mustadrak, 7772, graded ṣaḥīḥ by Imam Ḥākim and Ḥāfiẓ Dhahabī).

(5) The following is a supplication of ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Zubayr (d. 73/692) (may Allah be pleased with him) when there is thunder:

“Glory be to He Whom the thunder glorifies with praise of Him, as do the angels in awe of Him” (al-Muwaṭṭaʾ, 3641; al-Adab al-Mufrad, 723).
