Inheritance Question

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by IslamicPortal.co.uk

One of my relatives recently passed away. He has left behind his wife and both his parents are also alive. He also has a brother who is alive. He has no children.

Please can you advise how his wealth should be distributed among the inheritors.

Answer

Based on the information provided, the following outlines how the wealth of the deceased should be distributed:

Wife – 25% (1/4)

Mother – 25% (1/4)

Father – 50% (1/2)

The brother is not entitled to any share.
