Breastfeeding and Mahram relationship

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by IslamicPortal.co.uk

I have read your answer on the following link https://islamicportal.co.uk/adoption-and-breastfeeding-through-medication/ and wanted some clarification.

A typical scenario is a couple have not been blessed with children for ten years so they decide to adopt a baby girl. This baby girl (under the age of two) is then breastfed by the mother. This means that the girl has become connected to the blood line of the mother, meaning that the woman’s mother now becomes the raḍāʿī (foster) maternal grandmother, the woman’s brother becomes the raḍāʿī maternal uncle and Maḥram for the girl and so on and so forth. With regards to the woman’s husband, you are saying that the ḥurmat raḍā raḍāʿat (prohibition due to drinking milk) will not pass on. However, this man will become a Maḥram to the baby girl due to ḥurmat muṣāharat (i.e. that the daughters of your wives are Maḥram). This then means that the man’s relatives will not become Maḥram for the girl. So, the man’s father will not become the girl’s paternal grandfather, the man’s brother will not become the paternal uncle of the girl and they will remain non-Maḥram. In short, from the woman’s side, the male blood relations will become Maḥram. However, from the man’s side, his male blood relations will remain non-Maḥram. Is this understanding correct?
