In the following Hadith does ذو السويقتين refer to one individual or does it refer to an entire tribe/group of people?
يخرب الكعبة ذو السويقتين من الحبشة
Answer
Imams Bukhari and Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1591, 1596 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 2909)
In this particular Hadith, it is referring to one person. However, from other Hadiths, we understand that he will also have his tribe with him.
(Refer: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 1595/1596, ‘Umdatul Qari, Hadith: 1591 and Fathul Mulhim, Hadith: 7265)
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
