Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would not shake hands with strange women

What is the authenticity of the narration please?

Umaymah the daughter of Ruqayqah (radiyallahu ‘anha) said:

“The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “I do not shake hands with women.”

This Hadith is recorded in several Hadith collections. Among them:

  1. Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2874
  2. Musnad Ahmad, vol. 6 pg. 357
  3. Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 4553
  4. Musnad Ishaq ibn Rahuyah, Hadith: 2178 and 2295

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic. Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has declared the chain of Ishaq ibn Rahuyah sound (hasan).
