The Sahabah would consider those who missed Fajr and ‘Isha Salah to be hypocrites

There is a narration in Sahih ibn Hibban, wherein Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) states:

كنا إذا فقدنا الإنسان في صلاة الصبح والعشاء أسأنا به الظن

Translation: If we (The Sahabah) did not see someone for Fajr and ‘Isha Salah, we would have evil thoughts [that they are hypocrites]

Please give the exact number and authenticity.

This narration is recorded in the following Hadith collections:

  1. Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, 3372
  2. Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, 1485
  3. Sahih Ibn Hibban, 2099
  4. Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 1 pg. 211

Imams Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Hibban and Hakim (rahimahumullah) have declared the Hadith authentic. ‘Allamah Dhahabi concurs with Imam Hakim.
