‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) regarding those who miss congregational Salah

Is this Hadith authentic?

Mujahid (rahimahullah) said, Ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) was asked about a man who fasted during the day and stood (in prayers) during the night, but he did not attend the Jumu’ah Salah nor congregational Salah. He replied: “He is in the Fire.”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with a slightly weak chain.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 218. Refer: Al Kashif, 4692)

Imam Tirmidhi explains that this refers to a person who looks down and scorns upon Jumu’ah and congregational Salah.

Note: Kindly refer to a Mufti/Darul Ifta for a Fiqh ruling on this issue.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
