What is the authenticity of this Hadith?
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Mention the good about your deceased and refrain from speaking about their evil.”
Answer
Imams Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1019, Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4864)
Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic.
(Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 3020)
