Is this narration authentic?
حدثني علي بن الحسين، عن عبد الوهاب بن نجدة، عن بقية بن الوليد، عن أرطأة بن المنذر، حدثني أبو المثنى المليكي، أن سرية، خرجت في سبيل الله عز وجل، فأصابهم برد شديد كادوا أن يهلكوا قال: فدعوا الله وإلى جانبهم شجرة عظيمة، فإذا هي تلتهب، فقاموا إليها، فما زالوا عندها حتى جففوا ثيابهم ودفئوا، وطلعت عليهم الشمس، ثم انصرفوا، ورد الله عز وجل الشجرة على هيئتها
Answer
Imam Ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded this incident with a weak chain.
(Kitabu Mujabid Da’wah, Hadith: 110)
Translation
Abul Muthanna Al Mulayki says, “A contingent once went out in the path of Allah ‘Azza Wa Jalla. They were experiencing harsh weather conditions and due to the severe cold they almost passed away. They engaged in du’a when suddenly the tree on the side caught fire. They stood by it, dried their clothes and got warm. The sun then rose and they proceeded on their way. Allah Ta’ala then returned the tree to its original state.”
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
