What is the reference for the following Hadith and authenticity?

أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مر على كتاب على الأرض فقال: لفتى معه: ما هذا؟ قال: بسم الله قال: لعن الله من فعل هذا، ولا تضعوا اسم الله إلا في موضعه قال: فرأيت عمر بن عبد العزيز رأى ابنا له كتب ذكر الله في الحائط فضربه

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration in Al Marasil with a very weak chain.

Translation

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once passed by a book which was on the floor. He asked a youngster who was accompanying him, ‘What is this’? The youngster replied, ‘Bismillah.’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘May Allah curse the one who did this, Do not place the name of Allah except in its correct place.

The narrator says, ‘I saw ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdul ‘Aziz disciplining his son who wrote the name of Allah on a wall.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
