Hastening to open one’s fast

Is this narration authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“People will continue to remain upon goodness as long as they hasten in opening their fast”

Answer

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Sahl ibn Sa’d (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The narration is therefore authentic.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1957 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1098)

In other narrations, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) explained that the Jews and Christians would delay when opening their fast until the stars were visible. Therefore we are commanded to hasten when breaking our fast.

(Refer: Fathul Bari, under Hadith: 1957)

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
