Reciting Surah Ikhlas and other Surahs seven times after Jumu’ah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Can please you inform me if the following narration is authentic or not and is it suitable for practice and also, what does being protected from one jumu’ah to the other mean?

من قرأ بعد الجمعة الحمد و المعوذتين و قل هو الله أحد سبعا سبعا حفظ إلى الجمعة الأخرى قال وكيع فجربناه فوجدناه كذلك

Answer

Translation:

Whoever recites the following surahs 7 times, after the Jumu’ah salah, will be protected till the following Jumu’ah:

Surah Fatihah,

Surah Ihklas,

Surah Falaq

Surah Nas.’

This narration is suitable for practice.

Being protected refers to protection in religious and worldly matters.

See here for details and references for the above.

Note: The last part in the arabic quote that you have provided has an interesting incentive. It states that Imam Waki’ (rahimahullah) said: ‘I have tried this and found it to be exactly so.’

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
