Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)’s love for his grandsons

Is this Hadith authentic?

“When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was asked which member of his family was dearest to him, he replied, ‘Hasan and Husayn’. He used to say to Fatimah, ‘Call my two sons to me, and then would sniff and cuddle them.’

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) and has declared the Hadith weak.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3772)

However Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)’s extreme love for his grandsons has been authentically reported in other narrations. Thus the Hadith above is properly supported. See here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
