The virtues of dates and vinegar

What is the authenticity of the following narrations?

1) A house which has dates will never suffer hunger.

2) A household which has vinegar is not short of gravy.

Answer

1) Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyidatuna ‘Aaisha (radiyallahu ‘anha).

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 5304)

2) Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration and has graded it as sound (hasan). Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) has recorded a similar narration which has the following words:

‘A house that has vinegar will never be destitute’

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1841. Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 353)
