Sending salutations (durud) upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) when forgetting something

Is the following authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

‘When you forget something then send salutations (durud) upon me, you will remember it if Allah wishes’

Answer

Hafiz Abu Musa Al Madini (rahimahullah) has recorded the narration in question on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu). ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has classified the Hadith as weak.

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) then cites similar weak narrations from various Hadith collections which support and lend strength to the Hadith in question.
