Hadith on handshake with both hands

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Please tell me where the Hadith regarding shaking hands using both hands can be found?

Answer

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has mentioned a chapter in his Sahih titled,

“The chapter of taking both the hands (in Musafahah).”

Thereafter, he recorded the hadith wherein Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu’anhu) states that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alaihi wasallam) used both his hands (in Musafahah/handshake). (Sahih Bukhari, vol.2 pg.926, Hadith: 6265)

Imamul-‘Asr, ‘Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri (rahimahullah) said: “It should be known that the perfect method of handshake according to the sunnah is with two hands, and if a person greets with one hand, the sunnah of handshake will be achieved (though not completely).”

(Faydul-Bari vol.4 pg.411)

‘Allamah Ibnu ‘Abidin (rahimahullah) – the great Hanafi Jurist – has also stated use of both hands in handshake. (Radul-Muhtar vol.6 pg.382)
