Six good deeds

Is this an authentic Hadith?

Answer

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Malik Al Ash’ari (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 2500)

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has declared one of the narrators weak.

The Hadith is suitable to quote for encouragements, as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

Translation

Sayyiduna Abu Malik Al Ash’ari (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Six deeds/qualities are from goodness; fighting the enemies of Allah with the sword, fasting on a [hot] summer’s day, patience at the time of a calamity, abandoning arguing even though you are on the truth, hastening the performance of Salah on a cloudy day and making wudu [properly] on a wintry day.”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
