Do not swear or speak ill of the deceased

What is the level of authenticity of this Hadith?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Do not swear/speak ill of the dead thereby causing harm to the living [i.e the relatives of the deceased].”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) and other Muhaddithun have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Mughirah ibn Shu’bah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic.
