Another du’a to recite when pelting the jamarat

Is the following du’a to be recited at the time of pelting established from the books of Hadith?

رغما للشيطان ورضا للرحمن

Raghman lish shaytan wa ridan lir Rahman

Answer

‘Allamah Ibnul Humam (rahimahullah) states, “It seems that the Hadiths on this topic indicate that [Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam] sufficed on saying ‘Allahu Akbar’ only. However, it has been reported that Hasan ibn Ziyad (rahimahullah) would say:

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ رَغْمًا لِلشَّيْطَانِ وَحِزْبِهِ

Allahu Akbaru raghman lish shaytani wa hizbihi (Allah is greatest, despite Shaytan and his group).”

‘Allamah Ibnul Humam (rahimahullah) further states, “It has been said, that one could also recite the following du’a:

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ حَجِّي مَبْرُورًا وَسَعْيِي مَشْكُورًا وَذَنْبِي مَغْفُورًا

Allahummaj ‘al Hajji mabrura wa sa’yi mashkura wa dhambi maghfura (O Allah, grant me an accepted Hajj, make my sa’i meritorious and my sins forgiven)

(Fathul Qadir, vol. 2 pg. 497-498, ‘ilmiyyah edition)

Mulla ‘Ali Al Qari (rahimahullah) has also quoted this from ‘Allamah Ibnul Humam (rahimahullah).

(Mirqatul Mafatih, Hadith: 2659)

Besides what is mentioned above, I have not come across these du’as in any primary Hadith source. However, since the Hanafi Fuqaha (jurists) have suggested reciting this in their respective works, one may practice upon these du’as, without deeming them Sunnah du’as for pelting.

Kindly refer to a Mufti/Darul Ifta for further clarification.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
