Those who walk to the Masjid from a distance receive the most reward

Is this Hadith authentic?

إن أعظم الناس أجرا في الصلاة أبعدهم إليها ممشى فأبعدهم

Answer

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Musa Al ‘Ash’ari (radiyallahu ‘anhu). The Hadith is therefore authentic.

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 662)

Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded the Hadith with slight variation in the wording.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 651)

Translation

Sayyiduna Abu Musa (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Those who get the most reward for Salah are the ones who walk from the furthest away and then the next furthest…”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
