The virtue of reciting the last few Verses of Surah Aalu ‘Imran at night

Is this Hadith authentic?

من قرأ آخر آل عمران في ليلة كتب له قيام ليلة

Answer

Imam Darimi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (radiyallahu ‘anhu), with a weak chain.

(Sunan Darimi, Hadith: 3439)

This Hadith is suitable to quote for such virtues, as is the case with Hadiths of this nature. Although the narration should be quoted as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (radiyallahu ‘anhu), the nature of this narration is not such that could be made up using logic. It will therefore be understood that he heard this from Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) (i.e. marfu’ hukman).

Translation

Whoever recites the last few Verses of Surah Aalu ‘Imran at night, will receive the reward of standing up in ‘ibadah for one night.

The ‘Last few Verses’ refer to from Verse: 190 (إن في خلق السماوات والأرض) till the end of the Surah.

(Mirqatul Mafatih, Hadith: 2171)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
