Can you mention the Arabic text and reference for this narration?

Hasan Al Basri (rahimahullah) said: “Marry your daughter to the one who fears Allah. If he loves her, he will honour her. If he hates her, he will not oppress her.”

Answer

Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded this advice of Hasan Al Basri (rahimahullah). The full narration is as follows:

A man once came to Hasan Al Basri (rahimahullah) and said, ‘I have a daughter who has received [several] proposals, whom should I marry her to?’ He replied, ‘Marry her to the one who fears Allah Ta’ala, for if he loves her he will honour her and if he dislikes her, he will not oppress her.”

Arabic text

قال رجل للحسن: إن عندي ابنة لي وقد خُطبت إلي فمن أزوجها؟ قال: زوجها من يخاف الله فإن أحبها أكرمها وإن أبغضها لم يظلمها

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
