Correct wording of a du’a

In the du’a:

اللهم إني أسألك الصحة والعفة، والأمانة وحسن الخلق، والرضا بالقدر

Is it الرضا or رضا?

Ar Rida (الرضا) is the correct way as recorded in the following Hadith sources:

  1. Al Adabul Mufrad of Imam Bukhari, Hadith: 307
  2. Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 14646
  3. Kitabud Du’a of Tabarani, Hadith: 1406
  4. Ad Da’awatul Kabir of Bayhaqi, Hadith: 259

Transliteration

Allahumma inni as-alukas sihhata wal ‘iffata wal amanata wa husnal khuluq war rida bil qadar

Translation

O Allah! I ask you for good health, chastity, trustworthiness, good character and happiness with decree.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
