The book, ‘Al Ahad Wal Mathani’

Can you provide a description of the book ‘Al Ahad Wal Mathani’? What is this book about? Is it reliable and who is the author?

Answer

Al Ahad Wal Mathani is authored by Imam Abu Bakr ibn Abi ‘Asim [Demise: 287 A.H]. The author has enlisted the names of the Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum), beginning with the ‘Asharah Mubassharah [The ten Sahabah given glad tidings of Jannah]. Under each Sahabi’s name, he cites one or two Hadiths they have reported.

‘Allamah Muhammad ibn Ja’far Al Kattani (rahimahullah) has categorised this book under ‘Books on the virtues of Sahabah’

(Refer: Ar Risalatul Mustatrafah, pg. 58)

The book is written by a reliable Imam, however, the chain of each Hadith will have to be inspected individually to ascertain the authenticity thereof.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
