Eating food which is at the bottom of the pot

What is the authenticity and the explanation of the following:

Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) relates “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) was keen to eat the food which remained at the bottom of the pot.”

Answer

This Hadith is recorded in Shamail Tirmidhi, Musnad Ahmad and Mustadrak Hakim. ‘Allamah Sadr Al Munawi (rahimahullah) has declared the chain authentic (jayyid).

(Shamail Tirmidhi, Hadith: 184, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 220, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 115/116. Refer: Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 7088)

The commentators explain that the food at the bottom of the pot is well cooked [and would have the least amount of fat]. It would therefore digest quickly. This also shows Nabi’s (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) humility and his quality of contentment as some wealthy people feel it below their dignity to eat the remains of the pot.

(Refer: Sharhush Shamail of ‘Allamah Bajuri, Hadith: 184, pg. 298)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
