Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir Al Juhani (radiyallahu ‘anhu)

Kindly provide me with some information on the Sahabi, Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) who narrated the Hadith regarding the way to salvation.

Answer

Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was a famous Sahabi who was among the Ashabus Suffah (Those poor Sahabah who resided in Masjid Nabawi, and were dedicated to acquiring knowledge).

He was a Scholar, a Qari, a poet, an expert in the field of inheritance. He was known for his eloquence and his melodious voice when reciting the Holy Quran. He also assisted in compiling the Quran.

He took part in many battles, with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and with the Khulafa thereafter.

Sayyiduna ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu) was appointed over Egypt by Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) after the Battle of Siffin.

He passed away in the year 58 A.H radiyallahu ‘anhu.
